Isabel Carr Smart

71, originally from East Lothian and currently residing in Edinburgh, Isabel was the former Scottish Director of the YWCA. She was involved in the violence against women campaign, Play in Hospitals and helped build a new community centre for the organisation.

She also reminisced on having a physical space, describing fond memories of cooking and dance classes and highlighted the importance of hostels for young women. Her favorite memory was bringing people together and she noted that The Young Women’s Movement has evolved in a very positive way, centering the needs of young women as reflected in the times.
