Betty Philip

90, originally from Blairgowrie and now splitting her time between home and Edinburgh, Betty was a former Volunteer Youth Club Leader for The Young Women’s Movement. During this time, she played an integral role in keeping the movement operating by helping generate funding through local projects.

She also detailed the global aspects of the movement, such as raising money for young girls in Lebanon and taking members of the Y to Holland. She also emphasised the importance of not only listening to youth but also giving them physical space where they feel safe to grow and learn.
