“Dolls of the Nation” exhibition

To celebrate the centenary of YWCA GB in 1955, the YWCA had an exhibition called ‘Dolls of the Nation’. According to the drafted book recording the history of the YWCA held in the collections at the National Library of Scotland, these dolls were used as conversation starters at tea parties in Scotland, and they became “well-known on their travels from Thurso to Kirkcudbright”. [1] The Inverurie membership group made the “Miss Australia” doll.[2]
