Helen Hood

70, originally from Doncaster and currently residing in Edinburgh, Helen was the former President of YWCA Scotland. She was involved in many diverse initiatives throughout the movement including teaching maternity English to women who had English as a second language, Play in Hospitals and creating women’s only spaces to include Muslim women.
She described The Young Women’s Movement as a global organisation, having attended YWCA China, World Council meetings and a Dutch seminar. She gained leadership skills, community and learned a lot about herself and issues in Scotland in the process.
