An introductory workshop hosted by the Dumfries Women’s Signwriting Squad, join us for this hands on session exploring the craft of traditional hand painted lettering as we create a series of illustrated panel artworks for the festival inspired by poetry. This playful workshop will introduce some of the skills involved in painting letters and crafting typographic artwork as we work together to illuminate the text! Suitable for all levels of experience and enthusiasm. Wear clothes that don’t mind a little paint!

Participants will have an opportunity to explore the poetry of Nadine Aisha Jassat and make signs inspired by her words.

This event is part of Young Women Thrive, an event series aimed at young women (including transgender women) and non-binary people aged 16-24. It is funded through the Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund for Adults administered by Third Sector Dumfries and Galloway. It is taking place at Wigtown Book Festival.
