Rae is a disabled rights activist and the founder of the Access2Transport Network based in Glasgow. They started the campaign after experiencing the hostility and inaccessibility of the Glasgow Subway and felt frustrated by the lack of safety, dignity and choice for disabled people.
Access2Transport, while only having been launched in February 2026, has been gaining support and momentum. Rae designs all the graphics for the network, ensuring the cause is unapologetic, loud and vivid, impossible to ignore. Once a month, including the February the campaign launched, they have led protests at multiple Glasgow subway stations, pushing continuous pressure onto Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT), demanding change and for disabled voices to not only be heard, but truly listened to.
Rae prioritises amplifying the voices of all disabled people and Access2Transport is becoming a platform for the disabled, of all ages and disabilities to gain confidence within themselves, find pride in their voice, and use it for direct action to create change. This within itself is a huge act of resistance against the oppressive system that disconnects disabled people from community, which is what Rae fights to change.
Since Access2Transport launched, SPT received £150k towards making stations more accessible, directly because of the Push 4 Subway Access protests and the traction the campaign has been gaining. Their petition launched in September now has over 500 signatures. Rae has continuous meetings with SPT, MSPs and other professionals to continue the fight behind the scenes to strengthen the cause and put further pressure on those who have the power to make change. They will not be stopping, with plans to expand to the railway stations in Glasgow and continue to fight for disabled people to be able to connect with each other and their communities.
Rae firmly believes public transport should be for every member of the public and that access benefits everyone, including able-bodied people, and they will not stop until this is the case!
