Aimee is a feminist activist passionate about gender equality and tackling sexual and gender-based violence.
While studying Social Sciences at Perth College, she became a Student Ambassador for her local rape crisis centre, RASAC. During this time, Aimee also joined Young Women Know as an active participant of the award-winning Bold Girls Ken campaign, which focused on improving consent education for young people across Scotland.
After college, Aimee began studying International Relations and Modern History at the University of St Andrews. Since her first year, Aimee has been a devoted committee member and this year is working as coordinator of the student-led initiative, ‘Got Consent?’, which aims to prevent SGBV on campus through educational workshops, university policy, and awareness-raising events.
As part of her work, Aimee is committed to learning from a range of different perspectives. She was selected for both the European YWCA’s study session on Peacebuilding and Gender Equality and the European Women’s Lobby AGORA summer camp focused on ending VAWG. Through these opportunities she has been able to connect with young feminists from across Europe and the world to expand her knowledge and skills in order to improve her activism back home. Aimee was also selected as a participant of the EYWCA’s training pool programme where she developed her skills in feminist leadership and facilitation.
Drawing inspiration from this programme, Aimee is part of the team facilitating the pilot Young Women Teach programme in Scotland, which aims to equip young women with training and facilitation skills. Aimee remains part of The Young Women’s Movement as a member of the Advisory Collective, ensuring that young women’s voices are at the centre of the organisation.
At the heart of Aimee’s work is her commitment to creating positive change in her community and beyond through an intersectional feminist approach.
