Evie, Poppy and Violet are Mentors in Violence Prevention and took part in The Young Women’s Movement’s Young Women Changemakers project.
Evie, Poppy and Violet are three remarkable young women from Graeme High School in Falkirk whose leadership, compassion and creativity make a real difference. They share a commitment to fairness and use their strengths in different but complementary ways. Their work focuses on giving young people a voice, tackling inequality and creating spaces where everyone feels valued and respected.
All three took part in Young Women Changemakers, a project with The Young Women’s Movement, working with young women across Scotland to create resources and training on rights, equality and empowerment. They also took part in national focus groups to share their experiences and ideas about how relationships and sex education are taught in Scottish schools.
As MVP (Mentors in Violence Prevention) mentors, Violet, Poppy and Evie have each helped lead sessions with younger pupils on topics such as gender-based violence, body image, misogyny and respectful relationships. They were also involved in a BBC documentary about the MVP programme, where they spoke honestly about youth voice and community safety. Through MVP they raised money for Brothers in Arms Scotland and Women’s Aid, turning awareness into real action. Outside of MVP, each of them continues to lead and inspire in their own way.
Together, they have shown what it means to lead with kindness and purpose. They balance busy lives but still give their time and energy to help others and stand up for what matters. They are thoughtful, resilient and full of heart, and they have already made a lasting difference in their school and community. This recognition is only the beginning of what they will go on to achieve
