Information about making a nomination

Who is eligible for 30 Under 30?

Self-identifying young women and girls, and people from marginalised genders (e.g. non-binary people) who feel comfortable in a space that centres the experiences of young women and girls, and are:

  • aged 30 or under at the time of the list’s publication (1st November 2025)
  • living in Scotland, or Scottish living abroad
  • not previously featured on 30 Under 30

We encourage self-nominations as well as nominations from others. Please note that someone receiving more than one nomination does not inherently increase their chance of being selected.

What are you looking for?

We want to recognise young women and girls in Scotland who are creating change in their own lives, their communities and in society. This could be through their job, their school, a voluntary role or in their day-to-day life. We are interested in showcasing a range of experiences and achievements, from leadership and campaigning, to art, music and journalism, to education, health and youth work.
This is our tenth year of running our 30 Under 30 list, and we always receive lots of brilliant nominations. We’re keen to hear about any and all inspiring stories, but in particular would like to receive more nominations for people who:

  • live outside the central belt of Scotland
  • have marginalised identities or backgrounds
  • are under the age of 18

What happens if I am selected for 30 Under 30?

If you have been nominated (by yourself or someone else) and selected for the final list, we will get in touch to let you know and ask if you would like to be featured. Each person on the 30 Under 30 list will have their own profile on our site, and we will celebrate their story on social media and in press. There may also be optional paid opportunities for you to create extra content for the campaign, e.g. blog posts, videos, social media takeovers. You will also be invited to an in-person celebration event and an online networking event.

Who chooses the list?

The final 30 Under 30 list will be selected by a panel made up of The Young Women’s Movement staff, young women, and representatives from partner organisations in the youth work, charity and/or women’s sectors. The list will be selected by the panel in line with The Young Women’s Movement’s values criteria
