Mashal Aamir is completing her training to become a barrister specialising in international criminal law, having been awarded a scholarship for her commitment to the field.
Mashal is passionate about socioeconomic and racial inclusion in higher education. As a writer for the largest news organisation in Orange County, USA, she interviewed the first Turkish Nobel Prize winner for her piece on Girls in STEM. She has served as Associate Editor for the Cambridge Human Rights Law Review and founding editor of the Economics section for the Glasgow University Magazine, established in 1889.
She is authoring upcoming work on transgender rights in the criminal justice system and feminist legal perspectives in the Global South. Her interest lies in raising awareness of marginalised voices in the justice system as well as expanding the contemporary understanding of criminal law to include a regard for neurological advancements when questioning vulnerable victims, specifically children.
