Lizzie is an activist who spearheaded the Edinburgh protests in solidarity with Black Lives Matter after the death of George Floyd. Lizzie began her activism almost overnight when she saw there was an opportunity to help and leapt in taking charge of the organisation. Lizzie had no prior experience with leading a protest and faced unique challenges in running it while keeping people safe during the Covid-19 pandemic. She set an outstanding example for activists everywhere of how to do so safely, organising thousands of people to wear masks and socially distance, and proving that fighting for justice can continue even in the darkest times.
