Rachel Talbot is a youth campaigner who focuses primarily on anti-bullying and online safety, motivated by personal experiences she had while growing up.

She has spent the last 8 years working for a variety of organisations such as NSPCC, respectme, the #iwill movement, 5Rights, the Molly Rose Foundation and FlippGen. Her work began by working on a local anti-cyber-bullying campaign based in Angus called thinkb4youtype. This was made up by two young people from every school in the area and ultimately ended with the council adopting the campaign recommendations into their anti-bullying policy. From there she joined the first ever NSPCC Young People’s Board for Change where she contributed to the development of many of their resources and helped campaign in the final push for the Online Safety Act. She spoke at party conferences and in Westminster several times about her lived experience online and why the Act was so important for so many young people.

Most recently she has worked as part of the youth collaboration team on the Online Safety Consultation travelling across the UK to facilitate workshops to gather first-hand accounts from young people about their experiences online and what they need to feel safer, feeding directly into the reports delivered to government to help inform their decision on further regulation. She is also currently in her final year at Liverpool Hope University where she is studying Politics and Childhood and Youth. She hopes to use this to contribute further to policy decisions for young people across the UK.
