Mirin Gibson-Brown is a menstrual health campaigner who organised Renfrewshire’s first ever Menstrual Health Day.

She has personally struggled with heavy and painful periods for the last few years, and has decided to use that as fuel to help other young women and girls who are going through something similar.

On May 28th 2025, Mirin organised her schools and Renfrewshire’s first ever Menstrual Health Day. Mirin intends to develop the event and run it annually. Mirin continues to work alongside her school’s headteachers to improve period care and menstrual health awareness within the education system, which includes having assemblies surrounding periods and having easier access to better period products.

Following the success of the Menstrual Health event at school Mirin has been invited to host a menstrual health stall at Paisley’s Alive festival in May 2026.

Mirin has also spoken to multiple women’s groups such as The Young Women’s Movement, The Scottish Women’s Convention, the Menstrual Health Project and Renfrewshire’s Lord Provost about her personal struggles and to help raise awareness about the lack of resources that goes into women health and the additional challenges that women under 16 face.

It is Mirin’s personal mission to help improve women’s healthcare for girls and women across the country.
