Millicent passionately advocates for social justice, sustainability, and inclusivity. As a care-experienced and disabled neurodivergent woman, she has channelled her lived experiences into creating positive change for marginalised groups.
Millicent co-chairs the Care Experienced Movement CIC and founded the All of Us Employability Group at the Unite Foundation, where she has supported over 850 care-experienced and estranged people across the UK with access to higher education and employment opportunities. Her advocacy efforts have included giving evidence on the House of Lords transition from education to employment for disabled and neurodivergent people’s committee. Millicent was also recently interviewed in a documentary, and she created resources for the campaign to end the institutionalisation of people with autism and learning disabilities in collaboration with the Scottish Human Rights Commission.
Millicent also co-chairs the Sustainable Recruitment Alliance student advisory board, advising over 90 global companies on reducing their recruitment-related climate impact. She is also leading the design of the UK Walking the Talk campaign with Restless Development, focusing on feminist foreign policy, women’s rights, and gender equity, including organising and co-hosting a conference space for change makers and activists.
Millicent’s dedication to youth empowerment is evident in her work to create the Joined Up Institute with UK Youth, where she is redesigning the youth sector through professional development programs and conferences. As a leader within the community, she looks not just at creating programs and working alongside organisations but also at changing narratives and breaking down systemic barriers. Additionally, through her multifaceted efforts, Millicent continues to create opportunities for marginalised groups, embodying the spirit of resilience and positive change.
