Lok Pui Lo is an Edinburgh-based multidisciplinary creative producer, artist and facilitator who consistently brings new ideas to life across film, participatory arts, events and community projects. At the heart of her work is a commitment to representation, belonging and creating opportunities for people and communities who are often underrepresented within Scotland’s creative sector.
Lok is Co-Director of ESEA Creatives, a community-led organisation supporting East and Southeast Asian artists across Scotland. Through ESEA Creatives, she has helped develop a growing platform for artists to connect, collaborate and access opportunities through festivals, screenings, workshops, commissions and community events. She helped produce Liquid Identities Festival, one of the first festivals in Scotland dedicated to celebrating ESEA cultures, bringing together performance, visual art, food and participatory activities. The organisation has since built a directory of more than 70 artists, delivered over 20 events and been recognised as a finalist for the Creative Edinburgh Inclusion Award.
Lok’s ability to develop ideas into tangible creative projects has also been recognised through the Converge Performing Arts and Production Challenge, where she was selected as a finalist.
Alongside building ESEA Creatives, Lok develops her own multidisciplinary projects. She has produced Moving Between Worlds, an ESEA dance film creating opportunities for performers and creatives to explore identity, family and cultural heritage through movement and film. With support from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, she also developed an interactive murder mystery experience exploring AI ethics and society’s growing relationship with technology.
While completing her Master’s in Participatory Arts at Queen Margaret University, Lok was elected Black and Ethnic Minority Officer, extending her commitment to representation and advocacy into higher education.
Across everything she does, Lok is driven by a desire to turn ideas into action, build bridges between people and disciplines, and create spaces where others can connect, experiment, be visible and feel that they belong.
