Beth is a 23-year-old organiser dedicated to creating inclusive, empowering spaces for women and queer communities across Scotland. Her work spans both heritage and grassroots organising, with a focus on intergenerational connection, queer liberation, and women’s voices.
In her role with the Scottish Women’s Institutes (SWI), Beth has been central to revitalising and modernising a century-old organisation. She has driven forward initiatives to make the SWI more accessible and relevant to younger generations, ensuring that tradition is celebrated while adapting to contemporary needs. Through innovative engaging event programming, and the development of new skills frameworks, she has helped transform perceptions of the SWI. Her efforts have created meaningful opportunities for younger women to feel welcomed and connected to an organisation with deep cultural roots.
Beyond her professional role, Beth is a co-founder of FERAL, a queer femme club night that creates a space where queer women and non-binary people can see themselves reflected on stage, on the dancefloor, and in the community around them. FERAL uplifts those who are often pushed to the margins, reminding them that they deserve to feel free, safe, and radiant. Beth plays a leading role in curating the night and building community relationships, ensuring that FERAL is more than just a club night – it is a radical, affirming space for joy, visibility, and solidarity.
Across all of her work, Beth is committed to the idea that organising can be both creative and transformative. Whether developing national events for SWI members or shaping nightlife for queer women, she creates environments where people feel safe, inspired, and empowered. Her inclusion in the 30 Under 30 list recognises not just her achievements to date, but also her ongoing commitment to shaping a more inclusive Scotland through care, creativity, and collective action.
