Hi! I’m Ammy and I’m a 25-year-old from the east end of Glasgow. I grew up in poverty living with my disabled parents and brother & sisters.

 I had a difficult childhood and found it difficult to attend school due to caring for my parents and siblings. I had a family breakdown at 16 and became homeless, meaning that I lived in various supported accommodations around Glasgow. Due to my life experiences, I had really bad anxiety and depression. I ended up falling pregnant at 19 and now have a wonderful 6-year-old girl Caragh. I went to a GET SET programme with MsMissMrs in 2018 and got supported with my social, emotional, physical and mental well-being. I loved the support I had and I knew I wanted to give other women the same chances and opportunities I had! so I asked if I could come work for MsMissMrs, and over the past 4 years I have worked my way up, from packing pants to now running my own GET SET programmes, to supporting and empowering women, and also leading my own team of women to enhance their wellbeing and capabilities, while still caring for myself, my daughter and my parents. I am now a full-time member of staff at MsMissMrs and have come off my benefits, something I never thought possible.
