As Policy and Public Affairs Officer at the National Autistic Society Scotland, Alex facilitates the work of NAS Scotland’s Autistic Campaigners’ Group and their engagement with the Scottish parliament, as well as the charity itself.   

She has also engaged with the Parliament on numerous other occasions, including giving advice on the accessibility of their services for autistic people, helping to organize meetings of the Cross-Party Group on Autism, and setting up various engagement opportunities to discuss with MSPs issues that are central for autistic people and their families.  

Outside of work, Alex has written articles on current affairs in LGBTQ+ and gender equality in Central and Eastern Europe. She is also a volunteer for Educación Diversa, where she contributes research on women’s rights for ongoing projects. In a small team, she produced an activity journal for primary and secondary school children to teach them their rights according to the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women.   

Alex is keen to prioritise an agenda for progressive change in the future, in particular to achieve better outcomes for disabled people and/or women. As part of this, she is hoping to fulfil a personal goal of doing a PhD which would focus on the primary drivers and obstacles for the political participation of women with disabilities.
