Location: Edinburgh
Pronouns: she/her
Outdoors is very central to how Meredith understands the world. Her passion for environmental protection and civil development is very much grounded in her childhood, growing up in the countryside in Scotland made it a very natural choice for Meredith to want to study geography at university. So, she went to Edinburgh university and became involved in a range of other kinds of charities and non-profit organisations.
She volunteered with the royal Scottish Geographical Society, United Nations Association and it showed her that the blueprint of what her values were, what she cared about was environment and sustainability and very importantly empowering people. Her passion is empowering people to try and live sustainable lives and work in partnership with the environment instead of against it.
In 2015 she joined a leadership development programme through 2050 Climate Group.
She is a co-founder of MAD Challenge; their tagline is « Wild events for communities ». It’s really about reshaping our interaction with the environment in a way which encourages sustainable change. They run outdoor endurance events and instead of people being sponsored in money to take part in the vents they are sponsored in carbon saving behaviors pledges.
Meredith continues to volunteer for 2050 Climate Group, supporting other young people.
