Akhila has dedicated herself to increasing youth participation and representation in the UK Water Sector for the past few years.

As the President of the UK Youth Parliament for Water, she has advocated for young people to be more included in decision-making processes on water issues within the UK. This work has included the production of a video in partnership with WaterUK on the importance of youth participation in the water sector that was shown at COP26. Her work allowed her to gain positions on the UNESCO Groundwater Youth Network and on the Youth workstream of the World Water Quality Alliance. Akhila was born and raised in Edinburgh but is currently attending university in London.
