Share your experiences and ideas to help design training resources for healthcare professionals, and make a difference in how young women are treated in healthcare.

In 2023 we spoke to some young women in Scotland, many of whom felt that their health concerns were dismissed or not believed by healthcare professionals. Stereotypes of young women as being naïve, overdramatic, hormonal, irrational and stupid were regularly experienced, leading them to feel patronised, not listened to and not taken seriously about their health.
A team of us from the University of Bristol, the Women’s Health Plan Scotland, The Young Women’s Movement and the Association for Young People’s Health have come together to create some training resources for healthcare professionals. We hope that the training resources will challenge biases and raise awareness, which will help reduce discrimination and improve the quality of healthcare for young women.
We are looking for young women living in Scotland to come and help us make these training resources, so we are running an online workshop on Thursday 15th May 2025. We are looking for six young women aged 16–25 for this workshop. we will also be running two more workshops for this project in June.
This is open to all self-identifying young women and girls aged 16–25 who live in Scotland, as well as people of marginalised genders who feel comfortable in a space that centres the experiences of young women and girls.
