Katy is a freelance journalist and menstrual health campaigner.
She says the journalist part is still work in progress due to delays in finishing her postgraduate degree due to her health, but she’s used her voice and skills to help overcome stigmas surrounding menstrual health. She didn’t set out to be an activist. After a decade of suffering from painful periods, Katy was diagnosed with endometriosis and she wanted to help others who may also be suffering in silence to feel less alone.
Katy is trying to raise the profile of the condition so people know where to look for help, what they can do about it and to try and help others feel less alone if they are diagnosed. In doing so, Katy has come from a dark place of pain and isolation, once feeling very much on her own, to realising there is an entire network of people to reach out to.
